Go Hike

Feature 04 · Achievements

Four badges worth actually earning

Badges in Go Hike are deliberately few, so unlocking one means something. Finish your first hike for First Summit. Log ten wildlife observations for Wildlife Spotter. Hike once a week for six weeks running for the streak. Complete three hikes that start before dawn or end after dark for Night Hiker. Each one turns into an image card you can share.

The four badges, and what unlocks them

  1. First Summit

Finish one hike. That is the whole condition — it marks the first time the app was actually useful, rather than making you work for it.

  2. Wildlife Spotter

Log ten observations in the wildlife category. Birds, deer, or the odd red squirrel.

  3. Six-week streak

Hike at least once a week, six weeks running. A missed week breaks it, which is rather the point.

  4. Night Hiker

Complete three hikes that set off before dawn or finish after dark, worked out from the start time and estimated duration you entered.

Common questions

Why only four badges?

Because a badge you were always going to get is not a reward. Four means each one costs something: a first finish, ten sightings, six weeks of turning up, or three walks in the dark.

Can I lose a streak?

Yes. The six-week streak counts consecutive weeks with at least one hike, so a week with none breaks it and it starts again. Nothing else you have earned is ever taken back.
